Finale report...FINALLY!!

K, honestly, It's been so depressing, I just haven't had the energy to relive it. But I know someday, Em will want to look back at this, and remember everything!!

So here goes!

It all started on Fri, the week before. Dryers Ice cream, donated a truck load of AI ice cream to "sell" at the Arts Festival, at the High School, $.50 for a cone. So Em, Ja, and I went over to help with that. it was fun! There, I found out somene had donated At-n-tee Go fones(yes I spelled it wrong on purpose), and we had a list going for kids to sign up. So Tuesday, they were planning on watching everything at the High School, but the choir had a concert that had been scheduled the whole year! So they bumped up the concert to 6 oclock, and has tv's in the commons area.

Em and I went over earlier in the day, to get one of the phones, and discovered they desperatley needed help! So the story was, a bunch of people, and one lady in particular, got the idea to send as many go phones to the High School so people could text the votes in. We ended up with about 200. When I got there they still had about 150 to program, and charge. We had to figure out which time zone they were in, if they had unlimited texting, and set up the texting, so people could insert the word vote, with a quick note. Oh, and some of us were setting them to vibrate too. The process of setting up the unlimited texting, was a pain in the rear. We had to call, and set it all up, and it was voice activated, and we were all doing it. So just imagine...

It took about 8 of us- random crazy Archulta fans- (mostly moms my age) about 3 hours to get all the phones ready. Then the party began. Well the choir concert began, while Archie fans gathered in the commons area. When the concert was over, and they were still cleaning up the stage even, they sent to feed into the auditorium, JUST as David was starting his first song.

After the show, voting like crazy began. A local restaurant had even catered dinner for everyone there. They fed about 200 people who stayed to vote. And good food too! Chicken breast in a yummy sauce, beef brisket, yummy rice with a hint of lemon flavor, red potatoes, salad, and green beans with stewed tomatoes. I was kind of shocked! I was expecting spagetti or sloppy joes or something! :)

I had N, P and Em with me, and we stayed and voted until about 9:30. The boys kept slacking, so most of the night, I was double fisted voting. Then after we got home, I grabbed the land line, DH's cell and had mine. The boys voted for a while, but finally fell asleep. Jack tried to get in on it too!

I figured, between all of us, over the 4 hours, and 4 phones, we probably got 1000 votes in. My phone alone I got 800 texts in. Crazy I know, and apparently, not enough...but anyway...

The next day, with a glaze over my eyeballs, we got ready to go to the Delta Center. The thought of going was making me sick, but I knew if I didn't go, I would be SO mad at myself, not to mention Emma! So Em, P and I head out. I toyed with driving or taking the train, but it came down to, I didn't have enough $ to pay for the train, so we drove. Parking down town is HORRID, and always expencive, so I was worried about finding a spot. Well check it out...parked across the street!

The line was wrapped all the way around the building, and EVERYONE had a sign. I was so mad at myself. I am the sign QUEEN! Why had I not thought of making one. I called my sister, she was gonna make one and bring it to me, but she's lives in Montana, so it would have taken too long to get here! ;)

We got in pretty fast, not too bad. The energy was electric! Everyone SO excited, and proud or in love with David! :)

We were excited to see who would be there from Idol . I really thought it would be Carmen R, but it wasn't. We got Matt, from season 3 I think. Anyway, it was so fun, and as we got ready to be on the first time, ecryone one was screaming, and jumping up and down! Matt kept yelling...NO GREEN SEATS!!! So everyone PILED in, and made it look as full as possible. Then we watched the parade of eclectic used to be famous people...just kidding...and most of the summer tour. *rolling eyes*

Then we were getting ready for the big announcent. Matt had everyone ready, kids on shoulder's naked guys with David written on their chests, everyone was huddle in a HUGE mass, and then it came... DAVID......COOK! Seriously...it was like 4000 people were punched in the stomach! Girls were crying, Emma was crying, she cried all the way to the car. Sobbed actually. "I wanted David to win!" Noone even stayed to watch Cook sing. It was kind of funny actually, to watch that many people be CRUSHED, with one word.

I will say, David handled it beautifully. He is so gracious, and a genuinley nice person. And as I have said for years, to NOT win, is better off. He is fine, he will be fine.

The one thing I have been kind of sad about, is how this amazing young man, has kind of lost his old life. He can't go back to school like nothing happened. I have wondered if he could even go to church, or youth conference. SO much has changed, I have been praying he can have some sort normal life. Then today, I came across this. It warms my heart, to see him in this setting, at church, like Idol never happened. Be sure to read the info, on the video. I hope it will warm your heart too!

Here is the story behind the video:

The following letter is from Richard - who is playing the piano in the background!

Hey there, I just wanted to pass on a cool experience I had last night. Yesterday I got a phone call at about 3:18 pm from the Archuleta's. I was asked if I would be available to play for David for a fireside that he was speaking in the next couple of hours. Brett Hales, a friend of the Archuleta's, was asked to speak on trials and how to overcome them. Brett has M.S. and was on a feeding tube less than six months ago and could have been counting his final days, but miraculously now is up and about and doing pretty darn good. He decided to bring David along to share. So, I cancelled everything from my busy Sunday evening, loaded up the kids, and went to this fireside, which was held at a school for troubled youth. It is a 10 month in-house program that helps these kids 'right the ship'. What was interesting about all of this: most of them had never seen David sing because they don't watch T.V. there. This was their first experience of hearing him. David sang "Angels" and "Be Still My Soul" and did an incredible job of telling of his experience on American Idol. I was fortunate to accompany David on both songs. The piano that they had there was not amazing, but it worked out. Be Still My Soul is an arrangement that I did for David a while back. I have included a link for you to listen to this performance. When he sang it, you could just feel the Spirit come over the room. The directors of the school were in tears, because they said these kids don't feel this way very often. It is hard for them to feel the Spirit or recognize it because of their current state and their attitudes. But, it was more than evident that they did. You could see it in their eyes and I can only pray that they find the desire to have it in their lives even more. David was also so good to stay and talk to everyone who wanted to. He signed autographs, took pictures, and just gave words of encouragement for almost an hour and a half. It was so awesome to see his willingness to share. Anyhow, Enjoy! Richard

Ok, so I cried.

Not cuz I wasn't on, it was just touching. I cried, when Clay went home, and Elliot. It's just something about cute humble kids. :) I love how Idol included his comment, about "where did they all park?" I thought that was cute! I loved seeing his limo footage. That was fun, after being on the "outside". :) And I really think he was actually shocked to be in the top 2. After his trip here, I don't know why. Well, ok, Utahans are crazy... but still.

I thought they did a great job, capturing the whole day. I feel bad for Big Budda, he didn't get on at all. Kind of funny actually. He was the main atraction here at home... *chuckle* And the Governer didn't get any air time either. I thought that was interesting. I read somewhere, maybe they(he and the county mayor) need to grow a handlebar moustache, to get on network TV. I thought that was funny!

So it was a great night all around! Can't wait for next week!! Oh, I am annoyed...I tunes doesn't have And so it goes. WTH is that??? I'll keep checking, it has Longer, and the videos. I'm SO not buying the videos. grrrrrrr

Pictures!

I finally got the pictures put into flicker! Check them out! They are on the right...

One 4 middle age mommas, One 4 tweens, One 4 grandmas!

Another amazing night for my sweetie. "And so it goes" moved me to tears. It was SO beautiful. LOVED the accapella, LOVED the echo, LOVED the strings, LOVE LOVE LOVED, everything about it. Can't wait to get the full version. Although, it would have been nice, if he'd gone up to the high note, at the end. Maybe on the full version. Of course, what would a be wednesday if I didn't included it! :)

The middle I didn't like so much, it was FINE, I just like the "gooey" stuff as Simon said. :)

Longer, that has always been one of my favorites! He did it outstanding of course. I thought it was a strange choice, but then realized, it was for a certian demographic! Come on people...

I got well over 200 votes in. Texting... I couldn't get through on the phone at all. I think I only got maybe 4 in on the phone. My sister got through, but she's not in utah. I wonder if that had something to do with it. I don't know. I think I got my share in anyway...

The other two were fine, whatever. :)

Shouldn't have said "puke".

Cuz Emma woke up, and did. But she was fine! Just excited!!!

We went downtown to see him. Oh...my...hell... for many many reasons.

We got there, and realized we were just in time, AND in the right place, to watch him get out of the limo. I was so excited, so I grabbed my trusty camera, with it's all charged up battery, and empty memory card. I get it out, to prepare, and it won't turn on. Yes, that's right ladies, and maybe gents, the freakin camera is BROKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost had a nervous breakdown. Of all the shops around me, none of them sold cameras, and besides, I had three kids, in tow, and didn't want to lose my super excellent spot.

So I just took them with my phone, and now, I can't get them off...my phone. Seriously. It keeps telling me, "not avail able bearer". And the fact that it's an AT&T phone, just kills me. I got some GREAT shots, for a camera phone. *rolling eyes* So I'm working on the pictures. But here is a video I found on utube. I'm actually in it, if you have a magnifying glass, know exactly where I am, and recognize, the top of my head, arm, and hand-holding up my phone to take a picture. :) Actually, if you follow the bald guy(his body guard) I am "behind" his head, I'm there and then he walks by and blocks my head, then I appear again. Ya right, tell me if you see me!! But this video, TOTALLY captured the WHOLE event-and I mean the screaming...

I found another one, that captures, the "wait" for him to get out, ! It was really funny. And it's from the other side of the street, so a different vantage point! Oh, and take note, the screaming, was when the Idol camera popped out of the limo!! So freakin funny!

It was pretty funny! Poor Jack had butts in his face, for like an hour. He was a good sport though. Happy go lucky, as per usual. We never got to see Daivid, to get his autograph, but saw him up close, driving by, flashing that smile!! Emma was SO sad, she didn't get him to sign her shirt. Cried, and cried, and cried-as per her usual drama queen self. :) But when we were heading out, we saw a reporter from our fox affiliate. So I went up to her, and said, wanna get a sad angle?? HAHA...of course she did!! So Emma and I were on a live report around noon time! So funny. I have a friend who has it on Ti vo, and is putting it on a DVD for me! LOVE HER!! So hopefully, I can share it with you guys soon! So Emma left happy, cuz she got to tell david, on LIVE TV, how much she liked him! It was SO cute!

Unfortunately, there were LOTS of grumpy, "I was here first", and "Can I go find my 'kids'". I swear people are idiots. Just be happy and enjoy the moment. sheesh. The poor securtiy guards. I thought one was gonna have a coronary!

My favorite part was just the look on David's face. I got tearing, just knowing how much it meant to him, and his Mom, who was with him. I got to talk to her, for a minute! It was SO crazy!!! If you watch ALL the coverage, for Fox 13, you've seen David get teary too! I can't wait to see what Idol shows!

So I had to go get a disposable camera, for the stuff at the high school. I got one, the proceeds, dgo to breast cancer research. I figured, at least I could do SOME good, with my loser camera! ;) But of course, no I have to get THOSE developed. It never ends... I'm shooting for today, to take them to costco. On the bright side, It will be a surprise, to see what pictures I took!! *rolling eyes*

The high school stuff was so fun! Just to atmosphere. It was a little discombobulated. But still cool!!! Nick and Parker came, cuz I made them. Nick was sitting there all "teenage being forced to do someting" grumpy, and made a snide comment, towards, the screaming girls. I told him to quit it, and then said, "What, don't care, but didn't want to miss it??", he just grinned. It was funny!

I have to say, maybe it was where we sat, but the crowd was generally kinder, at the high school. Don't get me wrong, still tons of idiots, maybe I just didn't come face to face with any. :) I think since it was a bigger area, the screaming wasn't as deafening, and the people not a squished. SO that made it better, and nicer!!

Emma had a blast! Got a little tired of waiting towards the end, but overall GREAT! as we were walking out to walk home, we saw the limo, just sitting there. So we waited for him to come out! SO FUN! but in the process, Emma dropped her shirt, and some greddy brat, stole it. She was SO SAD, dried and dried, again...rightfully so, and then said! "Now I have NOTHING to remember David!!" Oh my... BUT, while I was asking my friend if there were more shirts, cuz some dufus stole Emma's her son said, "Here, she can have MINE! I have another one at home!" How cute is that?!?!?!?

I'll post the pictures when I can get them all!! But here's one to tide you over.

Gonna puke

Seriously, I'm SO excited, I could puke. I wrote on my other blog this, and I'm too lazy to right something new...

And what a day today will be!!! I called it a LONG time ago And then, I told ya'll he would be coming home. Um...that would be today!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So excited!! Even my doubting children are getting excited!! I told them they were coming whether they liked it or not! :)Here you can probably see it all! But I, my friends, will be front and center!!!

Be on the edge of your seat for my report of the days activites!!! :)

If you read the previous posts, you will see I "called" this, 5 months ago. See I have been watching idol since Season two, My Clay came from that one-who was on The View yesterday, BTW...promoting his new album, but I digress. When I heard David was going to be on Idol, I knew they would be doing a hometown visit. I have always loved the hometown visit. It's so fun watching the kids, come out of their bubble, and realize, just how many people love them!!

So for Idol, to be coming across the street(pretty much)from my house, is beyond words for me. This is such a once in a lifetime experience, to have something THIS huge, in my hometown-where I live. It's gonna be a GREAT DAY!!! I can't wait to tell ya'll EVERYTHING!! I've got the camera charged, and the shirts ready!!!

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Officials are predicting 20,000 people Friday during a rally for Utah's David Archuleta, the young finalist on "American Idol." A pep rally at the Murray High School is scheduled for late afternoon, with cheerleaders, the choir and a parade around the football stadium with Archuleta, his family and Gov. Jon Huntsman. Archuleta, 17, is expected to sing at the event and later appear at EnergySolutions Arena to perform the national anthem at the Jazz-Lakers NBA playoff game.

"We're making sure we're prepared and for everyone involved to make it in a grand way," Murray Mayor Dan Snarr said. "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity." The Fox network wants to videotape the hometown reception. "Who wouldn't be thrilled to have this type of talent in their city, and he represents Murray city very well," Snarr said. "You won't find a more caring person. That is what a true American idol should be." Archuleta also might appear at an AT&T store at the Gateway Mall in Salt Lake City.

A family friend, Brett Hales, said Archuleta's mother feels he's gaining confidence each week. "She said this is the first time she ever heard him say, 'I want to be in the top three,"' Hales said. David Archuleta will sing at hometown performances Friday

This is from the paper.. :)

For the first time since he went to Hollywood as one of 24 "American Idol" finalists, David Archuleta is returning home to Utah.
He'll definitely be singing the national anthem at Friday's Utah Jazz-Los Angeles Lakers game at the Energy Solutions Arena.
And there will be some sort of event earlier in the day in Murray, although details of that have yet to be worked out.
Whether he'll still be an "American Idol" finalist on Friday remains to be seen, of course. Archuleta and the other three finalists perform on the hit Fox series Tuesday (7 p.m., Ch. 13); one of them will be sent home when the results of the voting are announced on Wednesday (8 p.m., Ch. 13).
Jazz officials confirmed that Archuleta will indeed sing "The Star Spangled Banner" before Game 3 between the Lakers and the home team tips off at 7 p.m.
And Murray officials have confirmed that an event of some sort will take place that afternoon, most likely at Murray High School.
The event will proceed regardless of the outcome of this week's "Idol" voting.
Details about Friday's Murray event are expected to be announced later Tuesday or Wednesday.
